Another year, another illegal war. Is it more about the oil, the Epstein files, or a new colonialism? In any case, we persevere. Steve’s brother Chris is a fine guitarist. He learned we’ve been singing “We shall not be moved” through the dark and cold, so sent his interpretation of the Mississippi John Hurt version. Be inspired!

Announcing a Saturday rally! Saturday, January 31st we will have a rally in Park Square from 11am-12PM. All are welcome, and the theme is "PEACE MAKES AMERICA GREAT". We hope to provide an opportunity for area folks to join us in the cold on a day that isn't a Tuesday or a Friday, and continue to do so monthly.

We’re rallying under the theme “Peace Makes America Great” to speak out against this administration’s dangerous escalation in Venezuela. True patriotism means defending diplomacy over military aggression, honoring international law over illegal interventions, and building bridges instead of creating crises. America’s strength lies in its principles, not its willingness to destabilize our neighbors. Stand with us as we demand accountability, call for peaceful solutions, and remind our leaders that real security comes from justice and cooperation—not from repeating the failed foreign policy mistakes of the past. Help us gauge interest in making a regular monthly Saturday event, connect with neighbors who share your values, and grow our local democracy movement together. Leadership opportunities available! Mobilize

A few of us joined the River Valley PSL in Holyoke in an emergency protest, also held nationwide, side-by-side with Holyoke residents, representatives, candidates, and area activists under all flags and political persuasions.

Standing out in opposition to this administration, or any administration's illegal or unconstitutional acts, is vital. Standing side by side with like minded individuals, is important. Get out and join an organization, join a party, run for office, organize your workplace. Politics is not meant to be observed idly– we must participate, and we must do it together. The people will survive this together.

Rise Up Western Mass Indivisible wrote up a "One Small Thing" you can do this week– call our Senators and Rep.

Use this Capitol Switchboard number (202) 224-3121, to call our two Senators (Markey and Warren) and one Rep (Neal) and tell them NO WAR with Venezuela. Here are some talking points (edit and add your own as you see fit)

• Congress must reassert its war powers and stand up to Trump and put a check on his power grab immediately.
• Immediately pass a war powers resolution to block all unauthorized strikes and military action in Venezuela!
• Publicly investigate the administration's extrajudicial killings and war crimes
• Call for the impeachment of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth
• Support articles of impeachment and move to convict Trump for his repeated defiance of the law.

We shall not be moved from our Tuesday 3:30 pm vigil downtown and our Friday 3:00 pm vigil on the overpass.
