A gentle reminder...

Hello Patriots!
As we celebrate our three months of weekly rallies, we urge you to stay angry. Since the Roman Empire and its policy of “bread and circuses,” it has always been the strategy of tyrants to lull the people into quiet acquiescence. We keep reading articles about our quiet acceptance of corruption, oppression, and injustice, even as over 1500 towns and cities prepare NO KINGS demonstrations for June 14.
Apparently, we haven’t been loud enough! So this Tuesday, June 3rd we’ll ask you to take a minute at the mic to tell us what outrages you most. Here are just a few nominees:
1. The shameless exploitation of presidential power for personal enrichment;
2. Attacks on Social Security; Medicaid; Medicare; the Veteran’s Administration; and almost every government program designed to help working people and the poor;
3. Attacks on scientific research and the spread of preventable diseases such as measles;
4. Attacks aimed at judges and law firms that have stood in the way of Trump’s corruption and attacks on democracy;
5. Attacks on higher education and freedom of expression;
6. Attacks on our European allies and the undermining of Ukrainian resistance to a brutal, unprovoked invasion of their country by Putin’s Russia;
7. Attacks on immigrants, refugees, and foreign students;
8. Denial of climate change, and undercutting of green technologies…
Well, we could go on. But you decide! Choose the one outrage that got you off the couch and onto the street. Bring a companion who needs a nudge. It’s been three months, and to quote John Paul Jones, “We have not yet begun to fight!”
