July 10th Listening Circle Invitation

July 10th Listening Circle Invitation

Dear Friend of Peace:

Please join us Friday, July 10 at Westfield State University’s Interfaith Center as Westfield Friends of Peace creates our first Listening Circle. We believe our yearning for world peace must begin by deepening our inner peace, and that the path towards inner peace includes listening with respect and compassion to all who enter our circle.

Westfield Friends of Peace is a community of hope, built on the conviction that lasting peace (shalom, shanti, salaam) comes only through mutual understanding. We believe that a Listening Circle, without a hierarchy and with no creed, creates an open space into which all can enter without fear.

Our Circle Keeper for July 10 is Stephen Beals. The guiding question is straightforward: In a contentious world, how do we build a peaceful world?

Stephen will begin our hour by guiding us in how to be a Listening Circle. You can prepare for the Circle by reflecting on “The Peace of Wild Things,” a poem by Wendell Berry that will help set the tone for the Circle.

Seating at the Interfaith Center is limited; please let us know by email if we should reserve a place for you. Please include whether you prefer a 10 a.m. or a 2 p.m. start time.
