RUWMI Activism 101: Dialing for Democracy · Rise Up Western Mass Indivisible
This event is specifically designed for those who are new to activism and want to develop a toolbox of basic skills. In this one-hour online training we will learn and practice two skills that will allow you to take action with nothing more than your cell phone. These are actions you can take from anywhere and at anytime, to address any issue. Neither requires any prerequisite knowledge, only a desire to make a difference. 1. Calling our elected officials: We will learn how to look up our Members of Congress (State and Federal) and get their contact information. A member of our team will demonstrate by making a call in real time. There will be time for those who choose to try making a call too if they wish. 2. Using the 5 Calls app: We will learn about the 5 Calls app, how to install it on your phone and how to use it once it has been installed. Again folks will have time to practice if they desire. We hope you will join us for our first Activism 101 training, and we welcome your suggestions as to what other basic topics you would like trainings on in the future! RSVP for event link

Monthly Saturday Standout, Park Square

Standout: Westfield May Day Prequel! · No Kings Westfield
May 1st is coming — and we’re getting ready. Join us Saturday, April 25th for a special standout to build momentum for our May Day action. This is your chance to connect with neighbors, learn about the history and power behind International Workers’ Day, and get organized for May 1st together. We’ll be sharing the stories they don’t teach in school — how working people won the 8-hour day, the weekend, and every workplace protection we take for granted — and talking about why those rights are under threat right now. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or this is your first time showing up, this is the moment to get involved. May 1st is a day of collective power — No Work, No School, No Shopping — and it starts with us knowing each other, knowing our history, and knowing our worth. Come for the community. Stay for the countdown. A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation and to act lawfully. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
